Ambient Labs Creative is the partnership of photographer and creative director Paxon Malloy and business partner Melissa Benton.

Paxon studied photography in Santa Monica before beginning his career as a photo assistant. He soon landed an apprenticeship with legendary music photographer Greg Watermann, where the real learning, and testing, began. From there, he stepped out on his own, photographing musicians, lifestyle portraits and the street culture of Los Angeles.

Ambient Labs Creative collaborates closely with clients focusing on branding and image identity for both commercial clients and content creators.

Paxon approaches photography in sequences, using a collection of images that work together to tell a larger story around a brand and its identity.

“I’m not just trying to take a great photograph. I’m trying to persuade the audience to eat at that restaurant, wear that perfume, get that haircut or whatever the brand has set out to achieve. If the photograph does that, then it’s a great photograph.”

Melissa is a CPA with more than 30 years of experience. She manages the business side of the studio, overseeing budgets, planning, logistics and production.

Together, they make Ambient Labs Creative a studio where the idea and the execution get equal attention.
